 John grew up in southern California. He graduated from Yucaipa High School in 1974 and went on to attend Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. In 1978 he received a BA in Biblical Studies from Wheaton. In 1982 he received a Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Seminary's extension campus in San Diego, CA. John worked part-time in youth ministry for four and a half years while in college and seminary. He married his wife, Kathy, on June 27, 1981. After seminary he was a full time Youth Pastor at Palomar Community Church in Vista, CA for almost seven years.
While at that church he and Kathy had two children: Allie and Kevin, both of whom are working on their college degrees. December 29, 1985 John received his ordination for the Gospel Ministry. In July of 1989 the family moved to Chandler, AZ where John and Kathy planted Sun Valley Community Church (now located in Gilbert, AZ). Many people came to Christ at Sun Valley and while there they helped start 5 other churches in Phoenix metro area. In 1998 the family moved to Colorado. John was the Senior Pastor at Faith Baptist Church for 5 years before coming to Crossroads Community Church as Senior Pastor. John has been the Senior Pastor here at Crossroads since September 16, 2003. |
